Finding And Achieving Inner Peace: Yoga, Massage, Meditation And Music

There is no mainstream, sure-fire method of quickly achieving ultimate inner peace. There are, however, a few devices that are useful for those on journeys toward achieving inner peace. Many people engage in a combination of yoga, meditation, massage, and relaxing music to facilitate a feeling of inner peace.
Yoga is not a religion, but a philosophy that was initially practiced by those interested in obtaining spiritual enlightenment.
The word yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning to yoke or bind . Yoga seeks to create a union between the mind, body, and spirit.
One of the benefits of practicing yoga is that it does not require any fancy or expensive equipment. Yoga can be practiced with just the body and the mind. Yoga is often done barefoot and it is recommended for those who practice yoga to wear clothing that does not distract by being too tight. A yoga mat and a towel are also useful, but not required. It is also recommended to not eat two to three hours prior to taking a yoga class. Due to the variety of positions in yoga, having food in the stomach can cause discomfort and distract one from achieving inner peace.
Yoga poses are performed in sequence, meaning to gradually move from less challenging positions into doing the more challenging yoga postures. Most people who practice yoga are actually practicing a form of yoga known as hatha. Hatha yoga is associated with various postures and breathing exercises that purify and strengthen the body so one can endure longer periods of meditation.
Another common method of relaxing the body is massage therapy. Massage therapy uses touch to manipulate the muscles and soft tissues to release tension in the body. Massage therapy is often accompanied by lowered lighting, relaxing music, and aromatic oils and lotions. Receiving massages can help one to minimize the distraction an aching body can cause on the journey toward finding inner peace.
Yoga and massage therapy relax the body so that mediation can relax the mind. Meditation is a form of consciously relaxing the mind. This is often done by focusing on breathing and then eliminating all of the thoughts that tend to clutter the mind. With all of the stresses that people endure in this day and age, consciously relaxing the mind can prove to be more difficult to some than others. Relaxing music is often played to create an atmosphere of peace and serenity that is conducive to meditation and creating inner peace.
There is relaxing music created specifically for use while practicing yoga and meditation and receiving a massage. Stephen Halpern is an artist/musician who sells relaxing music CDs specifically composed to help one in finding inner peace. Halpern uses his knowledge of music theory to create sounds that inspire inner peace. The hope is that by listening to the harmony of sounds, one can create harmony within.
It may not always be possible to avoid stressful situations in everyday life in order to maintain a constant state of inner peace. However, through the use of yoga, meditation, massage, and relaxing music it is possible to find inner peace even if only lasts for a moment.
